Task #1

1.   In your own words, what is the difference between student engagement and

student empowerment?

2.  Consider your classroom or another teacher's classroom who may be struggling with moving students from student engagement to student empowerment, based on what you have learned in the perspectives and resources section what suggestions would you give to move students in the classroom from student engagement to student empowerment?  Think about each of the six forms of empowerment and provide a strategy for each form of empowerment.

3.   In what ways do you get to know your students to ensure all students

are empowered and respected in your classroom?

Task #2

Choose one topic that you teach but you just cannot get your students motivated to learn about it? What if they just don’t seem to understand the topic no matter how many times you’ve taught it? Some get it. Some don’t. Reflecting on the modules, what can you do to motivate students so they are empowered and want to explore the topic?
